Author Guidelines

PLEASE NOTE: To make a submission and register as an 'Author' or to register as a 'Reviewer' you need to first email your request to the Journal Editors at editor@designforsocialchange.org

1. The titles for each section are 12 points, bold.

2. The main body of the text should be Calibri font, 11 points, with line spacing 1.15, and all text is ranged left.

3. Tables are also ranged left, with a caption in italics and a full-stop at the end of the caption. The tables have only horizontal lines and not vertical ones.

4. All direct quotes, indent by one (1) cm from the left margin, apply for quotes that are three lines in length or more.

5. Ideally, all images should be a minimum of 150 pixels per inch and a maximum of 300 pixels per inch.

6. All images, figures and tables should range left to the margin of the Word document. The author(s) must have copyright over the images used or provide evidence of permission to reproduce images for which they do not own the copyright.

7. For in-text citations and the list of references, please follow the APA 7 referencing style guide.

8. Please include DOIs for journal articles if available and web links for other references. Use TinyURL to shorten long links in the references.

9. Short papers should be between 3,000 and 3,500 words, excluding the list of references (About 7 to 8 pages, A4 size).

10. Long papers should be between 5,000 and 5,500 words, excluding the list of references (About 12 to 13 pages, A4 size).

12. British English or US English is acceptable but should be consistent.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines (see the Template).
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it under consideration by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF document file format.
